 in the second half of the twenty-first century\, experiencing rapid modern
 ization\, rising prosperity and enhanced global importance.\nBritain was w
 ell aware of the wind of change blowing across the Gulf\, and strove to fi
 nd policies that could help ensure continuity and stability of its protect
 orate in the context of such transformation.\nThis presentation looks at t
 he overall British perception of a changing Arab Gulf\, and explores the s
 pecial role of education as a tool used by the British to secure the loyal
 ty and goodwill of Gulf elites and populations\, using Kuwait as a case st
 udy of the ever-changing states of the region.\nTo address this topic\, th
 e Euro-Gulf Information Centre has invited Dr. Gerald Power\,  Senior Fell
 ow at EGIC and lecturer in History at Metropolitan University Prague. His 
 current research project is a study of British cultural diplomacy in the A
 rab Gulf from the 1950s to the 1970s.The event will be held at EGIC Headqu
