La torsione europea della sfida secessionista: immunità parlamentari e democrazia rappresentativa alla luce della saga Junqueras

The workshop aims to analyse the constitutional implications, both at EU level and at Member State level, of the Junqueras case, following the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the decisions of the Spanish authorities. Indeed, the Junqueras' saga provides an excellent, though problematic, illustration of the repercussions a domestic secessionist challenge can have on European representative democracy and, conversely, of the far-reaching effects EU decisions and case law may trigger on sessionist claims in the Member States.
The webinar  will be divided in two parts : the first, in Italian in the morning, reflects on the implications on the regulation of parliamentary immunities in Europe;  the second, in English in the afternoon, explores the short and medium-term consequences of the saga on the "composite" European Constitution at large.
