Nature represents an essential element for human life with implications for physical and psychological well-being, child development, social inclusion and cohesion, crime and public safety, and economic development. This Forum explores how connection with nature in its various forms, from direct contact to virtual reality and the inclusion of nature in architecture and urban planning contributes to well-being and sustainable living. The Forum will present and discuss cutting edge research and practice as well as avenues for future development.

The Forum features Dr. Qing Li, the world’s foremost expert in forest medicine. Dr. Li is medical doctor at Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, Japan and author of Forest Bathing: How Trees Can Help You Find Health and Happiness,which has been published in over 20 languages. He has been a visiting fellow at the Stanford University School of Medicine and is a founding member and chairman of the Japanese Society for Forest Medicine, a leading member of the Task Force of Forests and Human Health, and the vice president and secretary general of the International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine.
