 gh-level events that we have launched in 2017\, aimed at analysing history
  to find lessons that become necessary for contemporary challenges. For th
 is event\, we have brought together internationally-renown experts to deba
 te on the lessons that Europe could gain from its own history of engagemen
 t with the Arab Gulf. \nDr Gerald Power (Metropolitan University of Prague
 ) will present on the centuries-old relations between the United Kingdom a
 nd the Gulf monarchies and their future options\; Dr Silvia Colombo (Istit
 uto Affari Internazionali) will focus on the important challenges that hav
 e troubled the relations between the European Union and the Gulf monarchie
 s\, and Dr Rachid Chaker (Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II) will share t
 he deep legacy and ambitions of France in the region.\nAfter a round of br
 ief presentations\, ample time will be devoted to the debate with the publ
